CESA 6

Sometimes not getting what you want can be a good thing, as was the case when educator Stacey Schoonover wasn’t selected for a teaching position.

“[It] allowed me to be available for an opportunity to transition out of the classroom and serve many districts with CESA 6,” she says.

Schoonover, who has a degree in agricultural education from UW-River Falls, enjoys advocating for youth opportunities and programming that shapes the experiences of young people.

In her current role for four and a half years, Schoonover is active in Winneconne FFA Alumni and Supporters and Lord of the Lakes Church youth programs. She says she is most rewarded by “seeing students [achieve] their goals and continue to push themselves to strive for success in their professions and community.”

Working in public education, “I learned how to build relationships within my school building and community, understand and elevate the talents each child brought, and advocate for each student’s unique needs,” Schoonover says.

Schoonover says success is measured by more than letter grades: “Academics are important, but a letter grade doesn’t always paint the whole picture.”
