Wealth Associate, Legacy Private Trust Company
Emily Kling, a New London native who grew up helping with her family’s Christmas tree farm, came to Legacy Private Trust Company in February 2024 after graduating from UW-Whitewater with a BBA in finance in 2023. The best advice she received: “You’re in the room for a reason, so don’t doubt your seat at the table.”
Kling now serves as chair of Legacy’s AI Innovation Team, “which has been an especially rewarding experience,” she says. “It has given me the opportunity to stay at the forefront of a rapidly evolving space while leading thoughtful exploration around AI use cases and data protection.”
She says her biggest break has come from strong advocates, mentors and people willing to coach her along her pathway in finance. “It’s shaped the path I’m on today,” Kling says.
I wish I’d known: how many meetings could exist in a single day — and that there’s no such thing as being overprepared when it comes to making them count.
Favorite causes: I’m passionate about supporting our local communities and contributing to what makes this area a great place to live, work and spend time. I value initiatives that bring people together, strengthen connections and create opportunities for mutual support. Showing up is important.
Hobbies: I love spending time on the Loop the Lake trail in Neenah — having it right downtown is a huge perk. I also take cycling classes at Evolution Cycle Studio in the Fox Crossing/Neenah area, and I’m looking forward to getting back out on my bike on the trails this summer. I almost always have a podcast on, and my tastes range from daily news and current events to workplace and interpersonal topics, with a guilty-pleasure interest in pop culture as well.
