Attorney, McCarty Law LLP
Jon Fischer is an estate planning and elder law attorney with the firm McCarty Law, which he joined directly after earning his J.D. from UW-Madison in 2013. The Appleton native has become passionate about elder law and says he’s proud to be the incoming president for the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Elder and Special Needs section. Over the next decade, he says his fondest hope is to “be able to make a positive impact in the lives of the clients that I serve.”
Service is important to Fischer, who also is active on many boards and professional councils.
Hunting, fishing and family are priorities for Fischer, who says if he wasn’t a lawyer he’d probably be a farmer: “I love the outdoors,” he says.
Mentor: My law partner Reg Wydeven is one of the most important mentors in my life. He has taught me how to be an effective attorney and how to be the type of colleague that people enjoy being around.
The region’s biggest challenge: I am very hopeful that Northeast Wisconsin continues to attract young professionals to keep it a great place to live and work.
Favorite causes: Appleton Public Library, YMCA, Fox Valley Technical College
