Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Age: 34

Partner, Wipfli

Kayla Nabbefeld joined the team at Wipfli LLP in 2014 and last year achieved the milestone of being made partner. Going forward, she says growing the talent pipeline in accounting is a key focus, as is addressing the overall talent deficit in Northeast Wisconsin.

“The wave of baby boomer retirements is taking decades of institutional knowledge out of the workforce. To protect our economy, we need to focus on attracting, developing and retaining talent earlier,” she says.

Nabbefeld is passionate about professional development and social causes; she is an active advocate both in the community and workplace.

“I would love to look back and say I helped someone I work with grow all the way to partner,” Nabbefeld says. “That would be incredibly rewarding.”

Hidden talent: I can drive a boat onto a trailer pretty well. That is not a skill every spouse has!

Best advice: Ask questions early, take good notes and stay curious. You are not expected to know everything when you start, and it may even feel like you know nothing at first. You will be surprised how quickly you learn, and that knowledge will continue to benefit you throughout your career.
