Advanced Tooling, Inc. focuses on a family-centric management style with a seasonal slate of activities to help keep its team of employees engaged — and with only a 7% annual voluntary turnover rate, this focus on culture seems to be working.
“We celebrate birthdays with monthly, catered luncheons,” says Greg Schrage, company treasurer. “We enjoy the holidays with the annual Christmas party. We enjoy the summer and outdoors with our annual company golf outing.” New in 2024, ATI has added a Party Deck Picnic event at the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Employee family members are included in workplace celebrations and holiday events, and ATI also often provides complimentary tickets to local arts events and performances.
“We strive to provide our team members with financial security through competitive wages, holiday bonuses and insurance offerings,” Schrage says.
ATI also encourages employees to give to their favorite charities, matching their donations. ATI offers options for retirement plans or a pension, and it contributes a minimum 3% of salary in profit sharing to its 401(k) plan. The company also offers up to four weeks of vacation with up to a four-week carryover.
The company also offers flexible scheduling to help with family medical appointments or school events, which also helps attract Gen Z workers who are seeking work-life balance.
On that front, ATI also has been “heavily involved in youth apprenticeship programs for the past few years,” says Schrage, including hosting two students for the 2024-25 school year. “We believe that introducing them to our manufacturing technology, culture and general work environment will lead to a full-time sign-on come graduation.”
