EAA AirVenture 2021 topped 608,000 during its run last week in Oshkosh.
EAA’s 2021 attendance was only the third time in the event’s history that more than 600,000 visited. After having to take a year off due to the pandemic, EAA CEO and Chairman Jack Pelton said this year’s results were outstanding.
“This was perhaps the most challenging set of circumstances we’ve ever faced as an organization to make the event happen,” he said. “I could not be more proud of our volunteers, staff and participants on the way they came together to exceed our expectations and make AirVenture 2021 a truly memorable experience.”
During EAA, more than 10,000 aircraft arrived at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh and other airports in east central Wisconsin. At Wittman alone, there were 16,378 aircraft operations in the 10-day period from July 22-31, which was an average of approximately 116 takeoffs/landings per hour when the airport was open.
According to a 2017 study by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, AirVenture has an annual economic impact of $170 million in the counties of Winnebago, Outagamie, Fond du Lac, Calumet and Brown.
Planning for the 2022 EAA AirVenture is underway, with the event expecting to take place July 25-31.
