Amazon, through subsidiary Amazon.com Services LLC, is seeking approval from the city of Sheboygan to build a logistics facility within the Sheboygan Business Center, according to BizTimes Milwaukee.

The company wants to buy 58.1 acres of land located at the intersection of Stahl Road and South Taylor Drive for the new facility, according to documents submitted to the city’s finance committee.

Amazon would pay approximately $35,000 per acre of land, or $2.03 million, according to a purchase agreement. The size of the facility was not included in the documents.

“We are having no TID incentives for Amazon,” said Mayor Ryan Sorenson via a Facebook post. “The company is paying for it out of their own pocket. This is going to be one of the biggest economic development projects that we’ve seen in years. We’re going to see hundreds of new jobs and up to $73 million of new wages injected into our local economy.”

The city’s finance committee recommended sale of the property Jan. 12 and the city council will take it up at a future meeting.
