Appleton Airport adds Sun Country Airlines

Today, Appleton International Airport welcomes a new air carrier to the airport, the airports fifth airline to offer service at ATW. The carrier will launch nonstop seasonal service to Fort Myers (RSW) from Jan. 30 through AprilĀ 13, 2026. Flights will depart twice weekly, with service increasing to four times a week starting in late March.

Sun Country is moving the route from Austin Strauble International Airport in Green Bay.

With this route, Appleton expands warm-weather travel offerings to now include Southwest Florida International Airport, which serves travelers to and from Fort Myers, Sanibel Island, Bonita Springs, Naples and Marco Island.

ā€œThis new carrier will make getting to Florida even easier for residents of Northeast Wisconsin,ā€ said Abe Weber, Appleton airport director. ā€œOur focus has always been to make travel faster, easier, and more convenient and that perfectly matches Sun Country’s mission to get passengers to their destinations safely, hassle-free with friendly service.ā€

ā€œFor over 40 years Sun Country has been connecting Upper Midwesterners with warm weather destinations, and we are thrilled to offer service to Fort Myers to our friends in Appleton this winter,ā€ said Joe Beckendorf, senior director of network planning and business development for Sun Country. ā€œSun Country is proud of our growth in Wisconsin, and especially excited to be adding ATW to our list of airports served.ā€

With the addition of Sun Country, Appleton International Airport will offer a total of six nonstop flights to Florida. The Florida flights will be on a Boeing 737-800 which has 186 seats.

ā€œWe have experienced tremendous growth at the Appleton airport, and it is due to the support of our community and carriers like Sun Country investing in our region,ā€ Weber said. ā€œWe are confident the addition of these flights will be even more convenient for our customers and will allow us to welcome well over 1-million travelers annually,ā€ he said.

Appleton International Airport had 1,089,235 people travel through the airport in 2024 which is an all-time record number of customers.
