Apricity Contract Packaging, workforce readiness division of Apricity, moved from Neenah to a new facility at 3901 W. Spencer, Appleton.

It is one block from Casa Clare, Apricity’s women’s residential treatment center in Grand Chute.

“This move keeps us close to our mission and our people,” said Dan Haak, president of Apricity Contract Packaging and Recovery Support. “It’s easier for those participating in the employment program to get to work, and the space is right-sized, or designed for how we operate today, with more on-time work and less need for long-term storage.”

Apricity Contract Packaging, formerly STEP Industries, which employs over 100 people annually throughout the Fox Valley, has been providing high-quality packaging and fulfillment services for decades, while also offering job training and employment opportunities for individuals in recovery. The new facility supports that dual mission by streamlining operations and maintaining strong community connections.

STEP Industries, which became Apricity Contract Packaging, was the inspiration of an executive of the Kimberly-Clark Corp. He learned that unemployment was often a problem for adults in recovery, especially for those new to life in recovery. The stigma of alcohol and drug addiction, a poor work history or no work history, and/or a lack of self-confidence often causes difficulty for those new in recovering in need of employment. His solution was to marry this ready and able workforce with labor-intensive projects from Kimberly-Clark and other companies. In 1982 STEP Industries opened for business in Neenah.

In 2018, STEP Industries and The Mooring Programs merged to become Apricity, a one-of-a-kind recovery organization that offers residential treatment, employment, sober living, and recovery support services.
