Ascension Wisconsin is no longer in-network for patients who receive health insurance through UnitedHealthcare, according to BizTimes Milwaukee.
After months of negotiations, Ascension and UnitedHealthcare did not reach a contract agreement by the Oct. 1 deadline.
According to a statement from an Ascension Wisconsin spokesperson, UnitedHealthcare’s proposed reimbursement rates “do not adequately account for the significant financial pressures facing health care providers, including unprecedented inflation, and rising costs for equipment and medications.”
UnitedHealthcare said in a statement posted to its website that “despite our repeated efforts to compromise, Ascension Wisconsin has continued to maintain its demands for unsustainable price hikes that are not affordable and would increase health care costs by nearly $38 million for consumers and employers in Wisconsin.”
