Established in 2006, Ascher’s Janitorial Services, LLC (AJS) started with one client, three employees and a dream. Initially operating from her home basement and with a full‑time job, Tricia Ascher established foundational values and vision early on: Lead by example, respect, communication and trust. In 2011, Ascher’s obtained the National Women Business Owned Corporation (NWBOC) certification. Tricia’s efforts to seek continuous improvement led her to pair with Bay Towel through the Green Bay Packers Mentor Protégé Program in 2012. By the end of that year, Tricia received the Most Valuable Protégé award, which recognizes a company demonstrating success in growth through increasing revenue, net profits and number of clients. Underscoring the MVP award, the NWBOC honored AJS with the Eclipse Award in 2013, recognizing Tricia as a business owner with outstanding leadership, ingenuity and perseverance in successfully navigating adversity with the business.
In 2014, the company moved from the humble basement into an 11,000 square foot office. But with success comes setbacks: Due to old wiring, the office suffered a fire after two months. Thanks to the local fire department, the building incurred minimal damage. Issues were addressed internally to improve safety and efficiency, and AJS began a new chapter with a ribbon cutting.
Say what we do, do what we say. Now was the time to refine internal processes and procedures. Lead by example; whether coming together to solve a problem or demonstrating the standard; this is everyone’s responsibility. Communicating with our customers and employees is not only necessary but also a demonstration of respect. AJS expanded service offerings, which provided the ability to tailor services to each customer to accomplish what’s required.
In 2020 the AJS team was put to the test — customer service requests increased 10x. The AJS team unified, provided the service required and stepped up. As a business, we’ve never been prouder of how everyone responded to the call to action. In 2023, Elizabeth Ascher joined AJS as a full‑time employee. Although she grew up in the business, she began taking on more responsibility and proving her accumulated knowledge. She is now the operations manager.
Going forward, we’re pursuing different avenues to create new, challenging opportunities. One big step: achieving Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification compliance to serve those customers requiring the utmost care and dedication to data security. This allows us to keep up with new information, technology and policies mandated by the Department of War.
Success looks easy from the outside. But it takes a lot of determination and can be uncertain at times. It’s focusing on building and supporting people, knowing business will follow. It’s continually reinvesting in your cornerstones, while seeking improvement wherever you can. It’s tireless, but at the end of the day, it’s incredibly rewarding to look back with more on the horizon. With our workspace ready to support future growth, we at AJS cannot wait to usher in the next chapter of our company.
