Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

It wasn’t all that long ago that manufacturing was viewed as dark, dirty and dangerous work. But coming off the heels of another successful Manufacturing Month, it’s clear that gone are the days when all manufacturing facilities were synonymous with harsh conditions and monotonous work.

The modern manufacturing workplace has evolved into an environment where employees can thrive, learn and explore exciting career paths — if you need proof, pick up the November issue of Insight on Manufacturing and see for yourself.

If your manufacturing facility is a place where employees feel valued, engaged and motivated, I encourage you to apply for Insight’s new awards program, Wisconsin’s Best Places to Work in Manufacturing, sponsored by Werner Electric Supply.

Insight is partnering with Workforce Research Group to conduct a comprehensive survey for manufacturers statewide to identify Wisconsin’s best manufacturing workplaces. Employers fill out an in-depth questionnaire about their company, while employees take an anonymous survey. These elements allow WRG to collect direct information and honest feedback about your workplace.

The highest-ranking companies will be honored in the pages of Insight and at our first-ever Wisconsin’s Best Places to Work in Manufacturing event at Lambeau Field July 17. All data will be kept confidential, and only companies selected for recognition will have their names and stories shared publicly.

Those who participate can also gain access to valuable data about how their organizations compare to peers across the state — survey data will be available for purchase through WRG.

I encourage you to take a few minutes and complete the survey. The deadline to sign up is Feb. 2, so make sure to apply today.
