Green Bay-based transportation solutions provider Breakthrough has acquired Sokolis, a national fleet fuel management company, as part of a strategic push to expand its offerings for fleet operators grappling with rising costs and increasingly stringent regulatory demands.
The acquisition, announced earlier this week, follows the summer debut of Breakthrough’s Enterprise Fleet Solutions platform, which the company unveiled at its annual conference, The Mercury Group, in August. Sokolis, founded in 2003 by Glen Sokolis, brings more than two decades of fuel industry expertise to Breakthrough’s growing portfolio, managing billions of gallons of fuel annually and generating approximately $300 million in customer savings.
Sokolis has built its reputation on securing favorable fuel contracts, optimizing fueling programs and identifying cost savings through invoice audits. The company reports that it saves clients an average of $1,000 per truck annually.
Beyond volatile fuel markets and fluctuating operating costs, fleet operators must navigate new emissions standards and heightened compliance requirements. Breakthrough’s new offering aims to address these challenges by bundling bulk fuel supply, route optimization and sustainability tools into a single platform.
“Fleet owners face increasing challenges with volatile costs and evolving regulations,” said John Teggart, president at Breakthrough, in a statement. “The launch of Enterprise Fleet Solutions and the Sokolis acquisition marks a key step in equipping shippers with the tools and insights to navigate fleet management more effectively.”
The integrated platform offers fleets access to competitive volume-based fuel pricing through more than 400 rack locations, fuel card discounts at over 2,100 sites nationwide, driver compliance monitoring, and route optimization powered by advanced analytics. The service also includes fixed forward supply contracts to lock in fuel costs and renewable fuel options to help customers meet sustainability targets.
Enterprise Fleet Solutions is now available to shippers nationwide.
