The Wisconsin Broadband Office has executed agreements for 23 BEAD projects since Feb. 9.
More agreements are expected in coming weeks as the Public Service Commission distributes more than $696 million for 175,464 locations around the state that have been approved by the National Insitute of Standards and Technology. Click here for a list of BEAD grant recipients.
In addition, the commission voted to award $500,000 to 15 nonprofit organizations to facilitate affordable access to telecommunications services. The funded projects are estimated to reach a combined 5,000 individuals across the state.
Awarded projects will implement programs that provide devices such as cell phones, accessibility equipment, and hotspots, as well as digital skills training centered around employment, education, health, accessibility, and online-safety. These programs will provide targeted benefits to older adults, people experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, and low-income families. The 15 funded projects will start July 1, 2026, and continue through June 30, 2028. Click here for a list of grant recipients.
