More than 500 students from 19 area schools attended The Brown County Home Builders Association inaugural Build My Future Brown County event Oct. 15 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

The hands-on career exploration event gave students the opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trades industry through interactive activities, simulations, and demonstrations.

“Events like Build My Future Brown County are vital for opening students’ eyes to the incredible opportunities that exist within the skilled trades,” said Pam Sylvester, BCHBA Program Coordinator. “When students can see, engage, and try the work for themselves, it changes their perception of what’s possible and that’s where real inspiration begins.”

High school students in attendance at the first ever Build My Future Brown County event included students from Algoma High School, De Pere High School, Denmark High School, Green Bay – East, Green Bay – Preble, Green Bay – Southwest, Green Bay – West, Green Bay – Bridges, John Dewey Academy of Learning, Gresham High School, Howard-Suamico – Captain’s Academy, Howard-Suamico – Bay Port, Luxemburg-Casco High School, N.E.W.
