Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Since 2020, Calumet County has been reaping the benefits of having the fastest rate of growth of Wisconsin’s 72 counties. In fact, Calumet County’s growth rate is a robust rate of 7.17%, more than four times higher than the state’s 1.62%. This strong and sustained growth make sites in Calumet County an enviable location for your next investment. Calumet County is an attractive choice for numerous other reasons in addition to its expanding population. Being centrally located between two major Interstates and two international airports less than 30 minutes away provides Calumet County with a superb transportation network.

In addition to navigational and logistical ease, Calumet County offers an exceptional quality of life. The natural beauty, comfortable pace, dedicated and talented workforce are just a few of the many reasons why companies like Grande Cheese, Worthington Cylinders, and ark data centers recently chose Calumet County to locate or expand their businesses.

Opportunity awaits in Calumet County. One prime site for redevelopment is the Brillion Works property located on US Highway 10 in Brillion. Working in partnership with the City of Brillion, the EPA recently awarded a $2 million clean-up grant to relocate and daylight a stream, take land out of a flood plain area, and add an on-site a trail network. Bellin Health built a clinic and the Brillion Early Learning Center, a KinderCare facility, recently constructed new facilities at Brillion Works. Currently, 90 acres of the 120 that comprise Brillion Works are still available for development for any number of mixed uses.

Another location primed for redevelopment is the former Tecumseh property in New Holstein. This 40-acre vacant property in the downtown area has utilities on site, access to rail transportation, and is near State Highway 32, making it ideal for any number of mixed uses.

In addition to the Brillion Works and Tecumseh sites, Calumet County has land available for development in other communities. Areas ripe for development include new business parks in Harrison, a new downtown area in Sherwood, and various desirable properties in Chilton.

We know there will always be a demand for a talented workforce, which is why Calumet County recently invested in the creation of a new talent attraction website, brand, and marketing. The result, Select Calumet, is designed to help make the case for choosing Calumet County as the place to live, work, and play. To learn more, go to www.SelectCalumet.com.
