Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

The advice Mike Daniels rejected. The obstacles Laurie Butz overcame. Tim Bergstrom’s business argument for quirky socks.

You just never know what topics St. Norbert College’s CEO Breakfast Series presenters will broach, and that’s half the genius of the event.

“Sometimes when you are in the audience at an event, it can seem like there is a wide gap between where you are and what the speaker is saying,” Nicolet National Bank CEO and SNC alum Mike Daniels told Insight ahead of his 2023 presentation. “I want attendees to know that the gap isn’t that wide, and I hope they feel like they’ve learned a thing or two that can help them wherever they are on their path.”

This approachable authenticity captures the magic of the CEO Breakfast Series, which since its inception in 1997 has hosted more than 200 speakers who have shared their stories with more than 13,000 registered attendees from across Northeast Wisconsin.

The 2025-2026 season kicks off Oct. 23 with Medical College of Wisconsin President and CEO John Raymond.

Several past Insight cover subjects will present this season: Jeanne Stangel, president and CEO of Curative Connections Dec. 11; Laurie Joyner, president of SNC Jan. 22; and Adam and Amanda Kroener, founders of Carbliss April 15.

Selfishly, I’m particularly excited for Feb. 17, when Insight Publisher Emeritus Brian Rasmussen will take the podium to share his journey from co-founding a media business during The Great Recession to writing a book inspired by his personal experience.

What makes these sessions truly invaluable is the speakers’ willingness to share the unvarnished stories behind their success. Whether you’re a recent graduate, a mid-level manager or a seasoned executive, you will find value in the practical wisdom drawn from people who’ve built their careers right here in the New North.
