Bradley Schwebs has spent 32 years with John Pfefferle — first as controller of Pfefferle Investments, then as CFO/treasurer of the newly-formed Quality Building Services, Inc., which is now known as Pfefferle Companies. Schwebs’ longevity with the company started when John Pfefferle “took his chances with a 26-year-old kid, only a couple years removed from college,” says the now-COO/treasurer, “and I could not have been put into any better of an environment being part of the Pfefferle family all these years.”
During his tenure, the company grew from five employees to more than 140 employees and brokers, Schwebs says, adding that financial leaders in today’s business environment require flexibility. “It’s not always about the numbers,” he advises.
During COVID-19, knowing that charitable organizations were struggling, Pfefferle Companies gave about 15% of its earnings to five different organizations, Schwebs says. His own community involvement includes time with the Fox West YMCA board, the Greenville Civic Club, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville, and the city of Appleton’s BID board. Schwebs also volunteers to take kids for flights as part of the EAA Young Eagles program.
