Acuity has been Wendy Schuler’s professional home for nearly the entirety of her career. She joined the company 35 years ago (when it was Heritage Mutual) and has served in the role of vice president-finance for the past 20 years.
Schuler was part of, she says, “a team that worked on a complex, multi-year, precedent-setting legal case for Acuity. Continuous attention to detail, ensuring highly-complicated details were described accurately, concisely and on time were key to the favorable outcome.”
She also was involved in several subsidiary company sales and led the team that formalized Acuity’s Enterprise Risk Management program.
Schuler was named one of 11 Notable Leaders in Accounting by the Milwaukee BizTimes in July 2023 and spoke during a 2018 CEO Breakfast series at Silver Lake College, where she had previously served on the board.
Schuler is concerned that a new fifth-year educational requirement for CPAs may act as a barrier to some students deciding on the career. “I hope to continue to play a role in the development of future accounting leaders,” she says.
