Prior to coming to the nonprofit sector, Julia VerHaagh saw AmeriLux through a period of rapid growth and Diversified Woodcrafts through the merger and plant closure of one of its businesses.
Those experiences helped VerHaagh navigate the merger of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay and the neighboring Door County Boys & Girls Club shortly after she came on board in November 2022. It meant completing audits for both entities and merging insurances, financial statements, technology and all assets — “very much a team effort,” VerHaagh says.
In under a year, “Julia’s extraordinary efforts as the organization’s new CFO resulted in the creation of a stronger and more efficient regional Boys & Girls Club organization,” said nominator Johanna Wicklund, COO.
“Obviously being with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Bay & Lakes Region, I am passionate about youth and ensuring they are given every opportunity to become productive, caring and responsible people who reach their full potentials and are supported in that process,” VerHaagh says.
