Kim LaPoint’s passion for nonprofit organizations began while she was a member of the tax team at CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen), where she served for 10 years. She came to the Sheboygan County Food Bank in 2021 and spent the first year “implementing an easier way to record and track inventory so that it can be monitored more closely and data can be used to better analyze for budgetary purposes,” LaPoint says.
For nonprofits, transparency is key: “Donors are putting trust into the organization to monitor their donations on a daily basis,” she says.
LaPoint is active with community organizations such as the Dare to Dream Theatre, where she serves on the board and has been the volunteer coordinator for three shows. She is also active with the Above & Beyond Children’s Museum, the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Committee and Junior Achievement.
For new financial leaders, she encourages a continuous joy in learning. “The financial world has so many areas and industries, and it is an environment of continuous change,” she says. “Find the industry that fits your personality and it won’t feel like work.”
