By 2060, 2 in 5 people over age 65 will have some type of dementia.
It’s a staggering statistic, and one that comes with huge economic, physical and emotional realities for families affected by the disease. But Curative Connections, a Green Bay nonprofit, is working to lighten the load families have to bear through Yesteryear Village, an innovative and, locally, first-of-its-kind reminiscent care village. The program offers adult day services so caregivers can get much-needed respite from the demands of caring for their loved ones.
Even though it’s Brown County’s only daytime provider of adult programming for people with dementia, Executive Director Jeanne Stangel says Curative Connections is an underutilized resource, especially for those seeking affordable care options.
“What we’re talking about is helping people stay in their home as long as possible without going to more expensive options, whether it’s in-home care, assisted living or nursing homes,” Stangel says. “It would cost four times more to be in a nursing home than to utilize our services.”

Also this month, Insight contributor Nikki Kallio took on the task of covering the future of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs — a topic that is getting more than its share of national media coverage as the Trump administration has implemented significant changes to federal DEI initiatives. The dismantling of federal DEI programs has implications for the private business sector as well. Turn to page 28 to read how local businesses, many in the construction industry, are responding to increased scrutiny of DEI.
With warmer weather on the horizon, this issue gives a nod to two of our region’s favorite outdoor pastimes — baseball and golf. In this month’s Personalities feature (pg. 12), read a Q&A with Milwaukee Brewers President of Business Operations Rick Schlesinger, who sat down with Associate Editor Kate Bruns to talk about the franchise’s efforts to reach fans in the New North, as well as what to expect at the ballpark this season. Kate also penned this month’s New North feature (pg. 14), highlighting our region’s high concentration of top-ranked public golf courses.
Between tee times and ball games, I hope you make time to visit Insight’s 40 Under 40 gallery show at the end of next month. Portraits of this year’s honorees will be on display at The Art Garage in Green Bay May 30-June 1. We are taking a new approach to recognizing the 2025 40 Under 40 class, and we hope it’s one that resonates with you. Watch for profiles of this year’s incredible lineup of young professionals in our June issue.
