Business development

U-Haul Co. of Wisconsin, Inc. announced that Badger Mobile and College BP Gas Station signed on as U-Haul neighborhood dealers in Appleton. Badger Mobile at 1201 N. Badger Ave. will offer U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment and support rental items; College BP Gas Station at 3640 W. College Ave. will offer U-Haul trucks and support rental items.

Wisconsin Bank & Trust opened its new location at 240 N. Broadway in Green Bay Nov. 1.

TitletownTech, a venture capital firm formed out of a partnership between the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft, has invested in Midwest Games, a regionally focused video game publisher. TitletownTech led the $3 million investment round with participation from Tundra Angels, Brightstar Wisconsin, Wisconsin Investment Partners, gaming industry veteran Erin Ashley Simon, and Bay Tek Entertainment owner and CEO Larry Treankler, known for properties like Skee-Ball.

Endries International, Inc. has acquired the Viscan Group, a Quebec-based supplier for specialized screws, general fasteners and related components.

The Green Bay Packers and Pit Boss announced a new partnership, with Pit Boss becoming the “Official Grill, Smoker and Griddle of the Packers.”

Sartori Cheese, Plymouth, has created its first spread and dip options with Merlot BellaVitano and Garlic & Herb BellaVitano available exclusively at Publix locations. Sartori Cheese also has released its newest cheese: Tomato Basil BellaVitano.

Bayland Buildings, Green Bay, recently held ribbon cutting ceremonies for Chilton Fire Department, One Source Technologies in De Pere and Mission Specific Worldwide in Fort Atkinson. Bayland also recently completed a showroom remodel for Avenue Jewelers at 229 E. College Ave., Appleton. Bayland is currently working on additional projects for Chilton City Hall and Police Department, Performance Coatings in Oconomowoc, Green Bay Advanced Oral Surgery, Green Bay Endodontics in Howard and Club Car Wash locations in Beloit, Manitowoc and Green Bay.

Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc., Appleton, provided planning and design services to the Clintonville Public School District and served as the construction manager for its referendum projects, which wrapped up with a ribbon cutting for a 126,000-square-foot elementary school.

Valley VNA, Neenah, has completed construction on Phase 2 of a $9.5 million addition and remodel at 1505 Lyon Drive, Neenah. Construction started in 2021, and the completion of the 11-room addition marks the halfway point for a project expected to be complete in December 2024.

Kleiber Construction, a local home builder specializing in luxury custom homes and remodeling, has started construction on its new headquarters located in Plymouth off Highway 23.

The Boldt Company began construction of a new 6,000-square-foot Neenah Animal Shelter that is expected to be completed in July 2024.

Keller, Inc. is the general contractor on a new 12,890-square-foot ground-up soybean oil refining facility in Reese, Michigan for Valders-based Quality Roasting, and a 2,434-square-foot building addition for Brain Balance in Kaukauna.

ATCAM, Little Chute, announced a new 30,000-square-foot expansion that is slated to be complete in mid-2024. This will double the company’s manufacturing space and will revamp and add additional office/meeting space.

Shea Electric & Communications, LLC, Oshkosh, received a National Electrical Contractors Association 2023 Project Excellence Award. NECA honored Shea Electric in its Design-Build Under $1 million project category for the work done for SSM Health Treffert Studios in Fond du Lac.

Consolidated Construction Co., Inc., a full-service design/build firm headquartered in Appleton, has been named an Accredited Quality Contractor by Associated Builders and Contractors for the second consecutive year.

Fox World Travel, Oshkosh, received the Global Business Travel Specialists of the Year 2023 — Midwest USA award as part of the eighth annual Hospitality Awards hosted by LUXlife Magazine. It also was named to Inc.’s Power Partner Awards list.

The C.A. Lawton Co., De Pere, a leader in the iron foundry industry, announced its 10-year anniversary with the Green Tier program. The company also became the first Green Tier participant to receive coverage under the exclusive Green Tier Registration Permit.

Faith Technologies Incorporated, an electrical planning, engineering, design and installation contractor, received a 2023 BUILD Wisconsin Award from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin in the Specialty Contractor — Electrical category for its work for Exact Sciences.

Acuity Insurance, Sheboygan, received an ACORD Implementation Excellence Award for policy download modernization. Using ACORD-based standards and services, Acuity supports policy download with more than 20 different agency management systems. The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of its 2023 Business Awards, including Corporate Partner of the Year Kohler Co.

Ducommun, Appleton, was one of 25 Wisconsin businesses recognized as an Exemplary Employer by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in October.

The 2023 Wisconsin Business Achievement Awards presented by the Flowers Family Foundation took place recently at The Boldt Co. in Appleton. Engineering News-Record has listed J.F. Ahern Co. as a Top 600 Specialty Contractor of 2023. Ahern was ranked 86th this year, moving up after ranking 88th in 2022. The annual ranking is determined by a company’s construction revenue from a subcontracting capacity.

Bellin Hospital has earned its 11th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. This prestigious national distinction highlights Bellin’s consistent efforts in safeguarding hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

Gov. Tony Evers announced the 2023 winners of the Vets Ready Employer Initiative. Among the recipients were Oshkosh Corp.; 4imprint, Oshkosh; Kimberly Clark; Menasha Corp.; Kingsbury Inc., Oshkosh; Worthington Cylinders, Chilton; and MCC Inc., Appleton. The Vets Ready Employer Initiative encourages employers to build a support system within their workplaces, hire and retain more veterans, and connect to veterans and their families in the community.

Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry was honored by the Wisconsin Technical College System as the recipient of a Futuremaker Partner Award in recognition of its relationship with Lakeshore Technical College.

Ahlstrom PawPrint Pet Food Packaging, a sustainable alternative for plastic pet food packaging, has been granted the Innovation in Sustainability Award by the American Forest & Paper Association.

Tom and Steve Lonsway, owners of Stone Arch Brewpub, Stone Arch Tied House and Cafe Aquila, have been honored with as Outstanding Restaurateurs of the Year by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association’s Big Four Chapter.

The Fox Cities Chamber recently named its 2023 Business Award recipients: Community Attraction Award – Appleton Downtown Inc.; Food & Beverage Award – Xe54: A Wine & Cocktail Lounge; Collaboration Award – The Monthlies Project; Large Business of the Year – Plexus Corp.; Small Business of the Year – Wisconsin Herd; Employee Friendly Workplace of the Year – The Boldt Company; Champion of Young Professionals of the Year – Walbec Group.


Grants

The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation awarded a record $19.8 million last fiscal year through 3,489 grants to support the work of 1,300 nonprofit organizations, bringing the foundation’s 32-year grantmaking total to more than $190 million.

Acuity Insurance, Sheboygan, recently donated $5,000 to Construction Ready, which prepares people for stable construction jobs that offer competitive pay and clear paths to fulfilling careers.

Festival Foods and its vendor partners donated more than $40,000 to Food for Neighbors in September and also donated more than $760,000 worth of various food items to local food pantries across the state throughout the month.

The Bellin Health Foundation has been awarded a $27,500 grant from the Leon H. and Clymene M. Bond Foundation, which will directly benefit the Bellin Health Bond Community Center. The grant will support the second phase of the center’s playground project, sustain monthly Family Nights and fund the second annual Kids’ Triathlon.

The new Holy Family Warming Shelter in Fond du Lac is set to open this fall. SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac is supporting this through a $20,000 gift.

The Appleton Meijer store donated $10,000 to two Appleton-based nonprofits: Franklin Elementary School and Saving Paws Animal Rescue.


Education

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. The Cofrin School of Business’ finance program has been acknowledged for incorporating at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct within the program.

The Board of Commissioners for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing granted continuing accreditation to the practical nursing program at Lakeshore Technical College.

On Broadway, Inc. held a ribbon cutting for the Vital Essentials Dog Park at 325 N. Broadway in a vacant lot owned by the city of Green Bay Redevelopment Authority. The RDA is leasing the lot to On Broadway for this use.

Marion Body Works has reached yet another milestone in the custom cab industry. It recently celebrated the completion of its 15,000th cab made for Spartan Motors.

ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah announced it is naming its new birthing center, which is part of a $100 million modernization, the Theda Clark Peters Family Birthing Center after an unspecified donation from the Theda and Tamblin Clark Smith Family Foundation. ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah has been reverified as a Level II Trauma Center for a period of three years, until May 2026. ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah is one of nine adult Level II trauma centers in the state of Wisconsin.

A community shred event hosted by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Sheboygan allowed for more than two tons of confidential documents to be shredded on site in a little over two hours. The event raised more than $900 to provide financial education to individuals throughout Sheboygan and Sheboygan County.

Jewelers Mutual Group, Neenah, has launched new, free cyber education courses within its Safety and Security Academy.

ProCon — a provider of converting, coating and paper sales — is introducing its refreshed brand and sustainable paper solutions with the launch of a new website, now live at proconusa.com.
