Del Monte Foods will close its Markesan vegetable canning plant laying off 90 employees.
The company provided no reason for the closure in the mass layoff notice it filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Layoffs are expected to start in April.
According to its 2023 annual report, Del Monte had six production facilities in the United States. It also operates a canning plant in Wisconsin Rapids and in 2019 sold a canning plant in Cambria to Seneca Foods.
