The Peninsula Pulse reported April 10 that Sagorac Enterprises “evicted Alpine Resort operator Randy Abrahams and his affiliated entities from the waterfront property in the village of Egg Harbor following what the company describes as multiple lease violations and unpaid rent.”
It’s a claim that Abrahams denies, saying that Matt Sagorac repeatedly changed conditions and terms as they tried to negotiate a plan that would allow for Alpine to open the facilities this season.
Sagorac Enterprises owns the waterfront parcel where the Alpine Lodge and cottages are located, but has leased the property to Abrahams and his businesses for the 2026 season. Sagorac bought the property from Abrahams for $6.75 million last year.
Sagorac said his company serves strictly as the property owner and landlord, maintaining no ownership stake or operational involvement in Alpine Resort, Alpine Golf Course, or any related business entities. Abrahams hosts weddings and events and takes bookings at the cottages on the property.
In a statement issued on the Alpine Resorts’ website, Abrahams says “We have been in discussions and negotiating as recently as last week, to ensure our ability to operate on the shorefront but Sagorac seems to have other plans at this point.”
The statement goes on to say there has been no legal eviction. Online court records show no legal precedings between the two businesses as of April 14. Abrahams said Alpine has been denied access to business records and systems, as well as perishable food at the site.
The closure may impact guests and third parties who had existing reservations or business arrangements with Alpine Resort. The statement from Alpine said they stopped marketing and booking for the shorefront facilities as soon as Sagorac blockaded access and is in the process of responding to guests with reservations.
The statement adds: “The Alpine remains open on its 190 acres under its control on the golf course and Burton’s on the Green restaurant and intends to expand operations as may be permitted on that campus and as originally planned after the sale to Sagorac last year and as presented to the village of Egg Harbor.”
