The Door County Economic Development Corporation recently released its 2026-2028 Strategic Plan.

The focuses on five pillars:

  1. Talent Attraction, Retention & Development;
  2. Business Advancement and Advocacy;
  3. Quality of Life;
  4. Entrepreneurial Spirit; and
  5. Communications and Engagement.

In late 2024, the board established a Strategic Plan Committee to begin shaping the 2026-2028 Strategic Plan. The committee began its work by reviewing results from the 2024 Business Survey and conducting SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analyses for both Door County and DCEDC as an organization.

These insights, along with a review of demographic and economic data and best practices from similar rural economic development organizations, informed the creation of the plan’s major pillars, objectives, and goals. A key focus of the committee was ensuring that DCEDC’s activities lead to measurable outcomes.

Over the next three years, progress will be tracked through five annual and five three-year Key Progress Indicators. These metrics will help evaluate our success in strengthening the organization and, in turn, expanding its impact on Door County’s economy and communities.
