A Wisconsin company has issued a statement criticizing recent immigration enforcement in Minneapolis.

Sachin Shivaram, the CEO of Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, posted a statement to LinkedIn that was signed by the Manitowoc company’s board of directors.

Shivaram said in the post, “Enough is enough. We make aluminum castings. But we also have a responsibility to our communities and to the democratic institutions that make our work possible.”

He has been critical of immigration enforcement efforts over the past year citing a deportation threat to an employee he personally recruited as an example of how recent policies impact businesses.

Wisconsin Watch also published a story about how federal immigration policies are creating hurdles for Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry.

The statement reads in part: “When people lose confidence in democratic institutions, the foundations that allow businesses to invest, hire and plan for the long term begin to erode… A strong economy cannot exist without a strong democracy.”
