The third episode of NEW Manufacturing Insights, a joint podcast of the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA) and Insight on Manufacturing (IOM) magazine sponsored by Oshkosh Corporation, is now available for streaming and download.

New episodes will be posted on Thursdays at www.spreaker.com/show/new-manufacturing-insights, as well as through SpotifyiHeartRadio, Google Podcasts and Amazon. The Apple Podcasts platform is expected to be available soon.

In Episode 3, co-hosts Ann Franz of NEWMA and Kate Bruns of IOM spoke with Staci Sievert, an award-winning tech education teacher from Seymour High School. Sievert’s district is one of the 2023 honorees at this year’s Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnership Awards, which will be presented Oct. 24 at Resch Expo.

Sievert says partnerships with industry have been critical to her school’s and her department’s success. She offered advice for manufacturers about how to get more involved with K-12 partners.

“Understand that teachers live with difficult and tricky time constraints,” Sievert said. “Ask questions. See what works; maybe there’s one day a week when a school has flexibility. We don’t try to be difficult in schools, but we live by a schedule. We really value the connection; we just need to figure out how to work it in.”
