Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

The sixth episode of NEW Manufacturing Insights, a joint podcast of the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA) and Insight on Manufacturing (IOM) magazine sponsored throughout the month of November by ICON Marketing, is now available for streaming and download.

New episodes will be posted on Thursdays at www.spreaker.com/show/new-manufacturing-insights, as well as through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts and Amazon.

In Episode 6, co-hosts Ann Franz of NEWMA and Kate Bruns of IOM spoke to Greg Kleinheinz, chair of UW Oshkosh’s Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology, about the university’s recent addition of an automation engineering program. Kleinheinz and the program were featured in the November IOM cover story “Training the Engineers of the Future,” which was released yesterday.

“Our advisory board actually came to us and said ‘hey, have you thought about automation engineering?'” Kleinheinz told Franz. “So we actually reached out to 25 other programs around the country that started similar programs, and they said they had experienced tremendous growth — employment, their business partners in the communities were extremely happy.”
