Evergreen Retirement purchases former KC headquarters in Neenah

Evergreen Retirement Community, Inc. has acquired the former Kimberly Clark headquarters site at 401 N. Lake St.

The 43-acre site served as the corporate headquarters for Kimberly-Clark Corporation between 1956-1985 and as office space until the site closed in 2020. It is situated on Little Lake Butte de Mortes in close proximity to area parks and amenities with nearby access to the Hwy 41 corridor.

Kimberly Clark listed the property for $9.98 million in 2020.

“Evergreen has been exploring opportunities to expand into the Fox Valley for quite some time,” said Ken Arneson, Evergreen’s president and CEO. “With the support of the Evergreen board of directors, this acquisition is our opportunity to grow and serve a new community.”

While plans for the existing 178,004-square-foot office building are still preliminary, proposed development under consideration includes independent living apartments and assisted living accommodations in the existing buildings with the addition of more independent living housing, a fitness and aquatic center and a worship and performance space.

Evergreen is currently gathering community feedback and will move forward with planning inmcollaboration with The village of Fox Crossing, AG Architecture, an architectural firm based inWauwatosa, that specializes in the design of senior living and Varsity on the marketing and sales plans to ensure a successful project.
