The Association of Fundraising Professionals Northeast Wisconsin chapter held its annual National Philanthropy Day celebration at the Oshkosh Convention Center Tuesday.

Insight Publications was proud to be a sponsor with the release of Insight on Philanthropy — a new publication showcasing dozens of nonprofit organizations in the 18-county New North region, six companies who are fostering philanthropic culture in the area, and the work of the region’s AFP chapter and its 2025 National Philanthropy Day award recipients.

The award recipients are: Josh Diedrich of Green Bay, Jennifer Skolaski of Oshkosh, Brody Enli of Oshkosh, GLC Minerals of Green Bay and Barb and Chuck Merry of Appleton.

Following breakfast and the presentation of this year’s awards, a keynote presentation by Cherian Koshy, author of the forthcoming book “Neurogiving,” helped fundraising professionals and advocates in attendance unpack ethical issues around the use of AI in fundraising and understand the science of giving. Afternoon breakout topics she additional light on the hot topics of AI, marketing and ethics.

Among the top issues discussed at this year’s event were concerns about the decreased availability of government funding and grant opportunities and the perception that fundraising will become more competitive in the next five years. In his keynote, Koshy encouraged fundraisers to lean into personal connections and focus on the spirit of giving that unites humanity.

“Generosity is hardwired,” he said. “Not a hard sell.”

More than 200 professionals were in attendance despite the season’s first snowstorm, and each received a copy of the inaugural Insight on Philanthropy magazine.
