Final Frame – Trolley stop

Door County is all about the experience. Door County Trolley owner and operator A.J. Frank has always had great settings for his passengers to enjoy during their tours of the peninsula’s communities. Now, he wants to make sure the beginning and ending of those tours is just as positive. In early July, Door County Trolley began construction of a new facility to house the company’s fleet of 11 trolley buses. Scheduled to open in spring 2015, the Door County Trolley Station in Egg Harbor will feature free parking, a food and beverage counter, retail space and an indoor ticket counter. The new facility also will be modeled after a historic train depot, completing the experience for visitors. “It will be a great place to begin and end our themed trolley tours,” says Frank, who also won the 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Door County Economic Development Corporation. The new depot is a major upgrade for the Door County Trolley, which has operated since its inception in the Orchard Country Winery & Orchard in Fish Creek. The new facilities will cost more than $800,000 to complete and could employ as many as 15 people at peak operation. Frank chose Egg Harbor as the site for the new depot because of its central location to other attractions in Door County, as well as the ability to add a large number of parking spaces. Door County Trolley operates year-round offering themed tours such as a Spring Blossom Tour or fall Ghost Tours.
