The Appleton Fire Department reported that a fire at 11:30 a.m. May caused about $250,000 damage at the Appvion plant on North Meade Street.
According to a press release, firefighters responded to a report that smoke was filling the building, but there were no visible flames. Employees were safely evacuating.
Firefighters located electrical panels on fire and deployed fire extinguishers and handlines to put it out in under an hour.
Damage to the building and contents are estimated at $250,000. The cause remains under investigation.
