Fire damages Kiel Foundry

Kiel Foundry was damaged after a fire was reported at 7 p.m. June 2.

The Kiel Fire Department responded after a report that smoke was visible from the roof and fire alarms were sounding.

Crews on the scene forced themselves inside the building to extinguish the fire. A working sprinkler system helped fire suppression efforts and the blaze was under control within 30 minutes. The origin of the fire was in the ceiling of the building and the cause remains under investigation.

There were no injuries and there is no estimate of property damage

The Kiel Fire Department was assisted by the Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center, Kiel Police Department, Kiel Fire Department Ambulance Service, Elkhart Lake Fire Department, New Holstein Fire Department, Plymouth Fire Department, Glenbeulah Fire Department, St. Anna Fire Department, St. Nazianz Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Kiel Department of Public Works.
