Dr. Zoelle Reinke: Chiropractor and owner, New Directions Chiropractic
Q: What do you wish more people understood about your field or industry?
I wish more people understood that chiropractors are much more than just “back crackers.” While we do address pain, the real focus of chiropractic care is ensuring that the nervous system is functioning properly. Chiropractic care plays a vital role in maintaining long-term wellness, not just managing short-term discomfort.
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of your professional journey so far?
The most rewarding thing has been witnessing the constant success stories of people who have changed their lives for the better. There’s something truly inspiring about being a part of someone’s journey, knowing that the work we do can offer them the hope and encouragement they need to keep going.
Q: Can you share one of the most significant challenges you’ve faced in your career and how you overcame it?
I entered the entrepreneurial world knowing how to be a chiropractor — how to heal and care for people — but I didn’t know how to run a business. I overcame this challenge by seeking mentorship, investing time in business courses and surrounding myself with people who could guide me through the process. It was a steep learning curve, but it taught me the importance of balancing clinical expertise with business acumen, and it helped me grow both as a professional and as a business leader.
Q: What is one cause or issue that you’re especially passionate about, and why?
Ensuring access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare for everyone. In my community, particularly in Fond du Lac, we are severely lacking resources for prenatal and postnatal care, which is something that weighs heavily on my heart. One of the most glaring gaps is the need for lactation consultants outside of the hospital system. I believe every mother, regardless of her situation, should have access to the care and resources she needs to thrive.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and who gave it to you?
The best piece of advice I received came from a high school teacher who told us how important it is to get comfortable being uncomfortable, because that’s where real change happens. It’s easy to stay in your comfort zone, but true growth and transformation come when you challenge yourself and step into the unknown.
