The 2026 40 Under 40s will be announced this week! Watch for more info and a registration link to our awards event May 28. Meantime, meet one of our 2025 40 Under 40s:
Emily Jacobson, Owner, Green Bay Doulas, LLC
Looking back, what personal experiences or milestones have had the greatest influence on your professional success?
Founding Green Bay Doulas was a pivotal moment that shaped my leadership and advocacy skills. Serving as Executive Director for the Wisconsin Doulas Association and being elected as a Brown County Supervisor have reinforced my commitment to community-driven change.
What do you wish more people understood about your field or industry?
That doula care is not a luxury—it’s essential. Supporting birthing people leads to better health outcomes, lower healthcare costs, and stronger families. But it’s not a truly sustainable career until we have Medicaid and insurance reimbursement options.
What is one cause or issue that you’re especially passionate about, and why?
Expanding access to maternal and infant healthcare, especially in underserved communities. Every family deserves quality care and support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, regardless of income or background. We can improve outcomes and create a stronger foundation for future generations.
What legacy do you hope to leave, both in your career and in your community?
A community where doulas are valued, birthing people are fully supported, and local policies reflect the needs of all residents. I hope to inspire future leaders to step up and continue this work. I also want to show that one voice taking the leap can lead to real change and that women are powerful, valued leaders in shaping the future of our communities.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work, you’ll find me soaking up quality time around a backyard fire with family and friends, cheering on my two girls at their gymnastics and cheer competitions, and channeling my inner charcuterie artist—especially on Packers game days!
