McShane Construction Co.’s Wisconsin regional team was selected by Volker Development to build Kelly Station, a 76-unit affordable housing residence in Madison.
Volker is a Fond du Lac-based development and property management company focused on providing affordable and workforce housing options nationwide. This project will be Volker’s first new construction project in Dane County, and its 27th in Wisconsin.
Positioned on a 0.90-acre site at 2462 E. Washington Ave., the development will feature a five-story building including a parking garage, and offer some units with private balconies.
The facility’s amenities will include a second-floor roof plaza, a fifth-floor club room and rooftop deck, a fitness center, a community room and a local community service organization suite. The property will also feature an on-site Madison BCycle station to promote sustainable transportation options.
The property was designed to achieve Wisconsin Green Built Homes certification, with green features such as a rooftop solar array that will help offset electricity usage in the building’s common area, and a “blue roof” system for advanced stormwater management.
The project is a participant of WHEDA’s Emerging Business Program, which encourages the involvement, utilization and development of economically disadvantaged businesses across Wisconsin.
Completion of Kelly Station is scheduled for October 2026.
