Envision Greater Fond du Lac is investing $466,000 in an effort to attract 32 new households from outside of Wisconsin to live and work in Fond du Lac County by 2028.

“About 1 in 5 Fond du Lac County residents is 65 or older and there’s a long-term projection showing that a population decline is going to begin in 2040 without intentional action,” says Alyssa Gruenwald, director of marketing and communications for Envision.

Envision Greater Fond du Lac received a $346,000 Talent Recruitment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation in May and has committed $120,000 of its own funds. Envision partnered with MakeMyMove which helps communities across the United States attract families.

The Make My Move website offers profiles of communities that describe the opportunities and amenities in the community. Gruenwald says Make My Move has a good reputation and vets the applicants with Netallya Challoner, who is the program coordinator for Envision.

Applicants receive a $5,500 cash relocation stipend as well as benefits from local partners, Gruenwald says. There are 36 local partners offering around $4,000 in incentives such as fitness center and golf course memberships, restaurant discounts, entertainment experiences and more.

“Right now, we’re really excited to get the local community involved,” Gruenwald says.

Partners will have access to new customers and those seeking employees can have exclusive access to talent.
