Steven Scott Janke, a Wisconsin leader in veteran’s employment services, died in a car accident May 31.
Janke, 48, was a Marine Corps veteran and dairy farmer, who became well known in recent years for his veteran employment services.
In 2017, he joined the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs as a County Veteran Field Representative and later as a Statewide Veteran Field Representative.
He founded Semper Forward which became Mission Wisconsin in 2020 and focused on helping veterans relocate and find employment in the state of Wisconsin.
“My story is one of soil, one of service, one of roots. It’s really one of Wisconsin,” Janke said in a 2022 interview with Insight on Business.
He said Wisconsin offered the best opportunities for veterans and he developed relationships with businesses throughout the state. According to his obituary, Janke helped 526 veterans and their families transition to Wisconsin.
