Freedom Claims Agency opened in Kimberly December with a mission of helping veterans navigate the Veterans Affairs disability compensation claims process.

The business was founded by U.S. Air Force veteran Greg Brittnacher and licensed psychologist Leah Brittnacher. Its mission is to provide expert guidance and representation for veterans and their families

A recent report from the VA Office of Inspector General revealed significant issues in how VA claims are processed for veterans rated as 100% disabled. Mistakes by VA employees resulted in an estimated $9.8 million in overpayments and $84.7 million in underpayments. The report found that 74% of claims granted and 76% denied for this rating contained at least one processing error.

Greg Brittnacher served as a security forces member stationed at Minot Air Force Base, Royal Air Force Alconbury, and Camp Anaconda/Balad Air Base in Iraq. After his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

He was a Veterans Benefits Specialist for Winnebago County, where he earned accreditations from organizations such as the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, DAV, VFW, American Legion, and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. He later advanced to become the Director of Veterans Services for Calumet County.

Brittnacher said that while he valued his work in that role, his passion for helping veterans and their families navigate the complexities of VA disability compensation claims led him to become an accredited claims agent.

Leah Brittnacher, a licensed psychologist, plays a key role in assisting with claims and appeals involving mental health conditions, ensuring veterans obtain the fair evaluations they deserve.

Freedom Claims Agency’s mission was also shaped by Greg Brittnacher’ss participation in the E-seed express for veterans’ program through the Venture Center at Fox Valley Technical College. He is a first-year law student at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
