Froedtert closes on land for hospital in Sheboygan

Froedtert Health continues its push into the New North region with its acquisition of 26 acres in Sheboygan where it will build a a four-story, 165,000-square-foot community hospital and attached medical office building,

The Sheboygan Press reported that Froedtert closed on the land off North Taylor Drive Oct. 25 and paid $3 million to the Sheboygan School District which had owned the land for several decades.

Froedtert Health said in a news release it expects to employ about 300 staff members at the facility.

The facility is the “next step” in the company’s northern expansion, said Cathy Jacobson, president and CEO of Froedtert Health.

Froedtert and ThedaCare are also in the process of combining health systems in a deal that is expected to close in early 2024 pending regulatory approvals.

ThedaCare, based in Neenah, serves Northeastern Wisconsin with eight hospitals and over 180 care locations. It employs about 7,000 providers and other workers. The organization saw nearly $1.2 billion in revenue during the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2021.
