Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Traditionally known for its agriculture and manufacturing industries, Wisconsin has increasingly become fertile ground for technology and innovation, attracting startups, entrepreneurs and established tech companies alike.

This transformation can be seen right here in the New North through innovative partnerships like the one between Microsoft and the Green Bay Packers in the formation of TitletownTech, as well as through the work of organizations such as NEW Digital Alliance, Women in Technology and Amplify Oshkosh that endeavor to promote the local tech ecosystem.

One way this is being done is through the 2021 launch of Wisconsin Tech Month (WTM), a month-long celebration of the state’s tech industry. It provides a platform for companies, organizations and individuals to network and showcase their innovations with others around the state.

While WTM is officially in October, the festivities begin this month with a kick-off party Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Fox Club at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton. NEW Digital Alliance, Women in Technology and Amplify Oshkosh are co-hosting the event at which attendees can learn all about WTM opportunities throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

Then on Tuesday, Oct. 15, the NEW Digital Alliance will host its 2024 Tech Summit from 1 to 5 p.m at Bridgewood Resort Hotel in Neenah. The summit will highlight the generative AI evolution and the current state of AI one year after its launch. Industry leaders from Gartner, Microsoft and Google will be on hand as attendees explore how organizations have positioned themselves in the past year, discuss the ongoing impact of AI on businesses and strategies for piloting and implementing AI technologies.

I hope you can attend one — or several — WTM events and join the effort to make our tech sector an even more significant pillar of the New North economy. Keep up-to-date with the latest WTM events at newdigitalalliance.org/wisconsin-tech-month.
