Appleton Public Library will hold a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 15 with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.

There will be guided tours, live music, a scavenger hunt, art displays, games, and more.

The $40.4 million project was funded through $26 million in borrowing, $2 million from the federal American Rescue Plan Act and a $12 million fundraising goal set for the project.

The Boldt Company was the general contractor and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill was the architect

The new library was built in downtown Appleton on the footprint of the previous library and is 93,675 square feet compared to 86,600 square feet previously. There is more natural lighting, a 315 person meeting room, studios for music, podcast and software creation, coworking spaces, a sensory room, outdoor space for children and will be heated and cooled with a geothermal system.
