The city of Omro and the Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding to create a cooperative relationship to support economic development efforts within the city of Omro.
GOEDC is a public/private nonprofit organization focused on comprehensive and integrated economic development throughout the greater Oshkosh area and Winnebago County. Its mission is to grow and retain existing businesses and stimulate economic growth for partner communities through three strategic initiatives: Thriving Economy, Community Built for Workforce, and Culture of Innovation.
Omro recently launched its first strategic plan and it has a key goal in mstrengthening relationships and responsibilities within community groups. The plan also calls for data-based decision making, bringing a diverse business mix to downtown, and reducing vacancy. The services and mission of GOEDC align with these goals along with providing general economic development services.
Under the agreement, GOEDC will support Omro through Business Retention and Expansion efforts with existing employers and industrial park tenants, regular collaboration with city staff, partnership on redevelopment and corridor development strategies, site selection support for business prospects, and coordination with regional and state partners to share data and access funding programs.
The partnership is effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026, with the option for future extension by mutual agreement.
