The Green Bay Common Council approved a contract to remove the Packers Heritage Trail Plaza from the corner of Cherry and Washington streets.
That site is being developed for an luxury apartments and retail space by New Land Enterprises of Milwaukee.
Miron Construction was given a contract for $109,000 to remove the statues of Packer legends and plaques because it originally built the plaza.
The statues would be put into storage until a new site is selected. The Neville Public Museum is among the sites begin considered.
New Land Enterprises has proposed an 8-story building with more than 250 apartments.
