Froedtert ThedaCare Health broke ground for a new health campus in Fond du Lac Tuesday.

The $35 million Fond du Lac campus is expected to be approximately 25,000 square feet with emergency care, inpatient beds, and 24/7 coverage with board-certified emergency physicians. For patients requiring additional care, observation and tests, plans call for 24/7 Computed Tomography (CT) scans, x-ray and ultrasound with outpatient access.

More services may be added over time based on community need. The smaller-scale, hospital will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

“Enhancing access to care is a key principle of our Population Health vision of reinventing health care by becoming proactive partners in health with our communities, including prediction and prevention with primary and specialty care,” said Cathy Jacobson, CEO of FroedtertmThedaCare Health, Inc.

Demand for access to care continues to grow in Fond du Lac, where city and county populations have steadily increased over the past decade. The campus at 755 W. Johnson St. will be located in a retail district near I-41.

“Our goal of the new campus is to offer access to all levels of care, in one coordinated system – close to home. This campus naturally extends the trusted medical care we currently provide the people of this area,” said Imran A. Andrabi, MD, president of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc.

Care at the new health campus will be collectively delivered to patients by ThedaCare providers and the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin health network.

Construction partners include Hplex Solutions as the owner representative; HGA as the architect and engineer; and Miron Construction as the construction manager. Also involved is The Sigma Group, which is the civil engineer and landscape architect.
