The health care industry added 37,000 jobs nationally in April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
It was just above the monthly average of 32,000 from the same period the previous year, with nursing and residential care adding the most jobs at 26,000.
Transportation and warehousing jobs also increased by 30,000 during the same month, but the overall number of jobs is down 105,000 since hitting a peak in February of last year.
Retail trade and social assistance roles all added jobs, but other sectors like the federal government lost 9,000 roles. Federal jobs have declined ever since reaching a peak in October 2024.
Overall, 115,000 jobs were added, and unemployment remained steady at 4.3%.
