Insight Publications earned two awards in the 2025 Alliance of Area Business Publishers Editorial Excellence Awards competition. The awards were presented Friday, June 20 during the AABP’s summer conference held in Ottawa, Canada.
The annual competition, which is coordinated and judged by faculty in the University of Missouri School of Journalism, recognizes editorial excellence and outstanding visual presentation in regional business publications.
Insight achieved a silver for Best Profile of a Person or Business for a story written by Insight’s Editor Amelia Compton Wolff about Carbliss that was the cover story for the August 2024 edition.
A judge wrote: “A solid business profile that fizzes with the company’s personality gives a picture of the company founders and its challenges along the way. The voices and personalities of the owners shine through, and the reporter nestled business challenges and strategy with strong scenes, emotions and proof points.”
A bronze was presented for the April 2024 cover featuring the Green Bay Blizzard written by Insight’s Associate Editor Kate Bruns. The cover was the work of Karen Schneider of A2Z The Agency, photographer Shane Van Boxtel of Image Studios and stylist Shalene Enz.
A judge wrote: “One look at this cover and the temperature drops. The color palette and typography are thematic and consistent. The photograph, styling and make-up are exquisite, and each of these bitterly cold elements contributes to an expressive, fun and eye-catching cover.”
AABP is an organization of nearly 60 regional business publications delivering news to more than 1.2 million professionals in the United States, Canada and Australia.
