Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

The first episode of NEW Manufacturing Insights, a joint podcast of the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA) and Insight on Manufacturing (IOM) magazine, is now available for streaming and download.

New episodes will be posted on Thursdays at www.spreaker.com/show/new-manufacturing-insights, as well as through Spotify, iHeartRadio and Amazon.

In Episode 1, co-hosts Ann Franz of NEWMA and Kate Bruns of IOM spoke with NEWMA founder Paul Rauscher and Insight founder Brian Rasmussen about the history of the two organizations, which both date back more than 15 years.

“It was very critical that manufacturers tell our story,” Rauscher tells Franz and Bruns of NEWMA’s roots in manufacturer-led messaging to combat narratives that the profession was dirty, dangerous or even dead-end. “Everybody in manufacturing understood that. Any of the CEOs and owners that I went and talked to, I didn’t have to tell them a big story. They knew what the story was that was out there about manufacturing, and they could see it in the fact that we weren’t getting people, especially young people, involved in the business.”
