Insight’s Power Book shifts to direct business submissions

Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Insight is changing how it compiles its Power Book lists, moving away from exclusively public data sources to a model that relies on direct submissions from Northeast Wisconsin businesses.

The shift, which takes effect with the June issue, addresses limitations in publicly available data that is often outdated and leaves out companies making significant regional impact but lacking disclosure requirements.

“Public data tells an incomplete story,” said Insight Publisher Angela O’Kray. “Many growing companies in Northeast Wisconsin don’t appear in public records, creating gaps in understanding the region’s actual business landscape.”

The new approach allows companies to submit their own information directly to Insight’s database, which will create a more accurate and timely picture of who’s leading the local economy.

Insight’s research partners at MESJ are surveying businesses across industries, though companies can submit information proactively to ensure inclusion in monthly lists and the annual Power Book scheduled for publication in December.

Companies interested in submitting information can do so at insightonbusiness.com/powerbook.

Insight launched its Power Book series in December 2025 as a resource highlighting the region’s most influential businesses and leaders.

In a related change, Insight’s April Power Book list — featuring the region’s highest-paid public company executives — will be available only to paid Insider members. Details on Insider memberships are available at insightonbusiness.com/insider.
